Capacity Building Program for Prospective Resource Persons on Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies

A Capacity Building Program for Prospective Resource Persons on Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies was organized by CBSE COE Bhubaneswar on 10^th January 2023 in Krishnagar Public School. This was the first Prospective Resource Persons Program organized in the Bhubaneswar Region. Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, Head, CBSE COE Bhubaneswar graced the occasions as one of the Resource Persons, along with Ms. Indrani Bhattacharyya, a freelance Resource Person for CBSE.

 

Participants from several schools across the state of West Bengal including schools in the Nadia HOL along with several schools from Kolkata came down to attend the session. The participants included Principals and Vice Principals from some of the schools in the Nadia HOL. The session proved to be a excellent mode to groom the participants to develop into future resource persons for CBSE.

 

The program began with the Venue Director and Principal of Krishnagar Public School Dr. Sankar Prasad Dutta along with the two Resource Persons lighting the ceremonial lamp. The junior students of the presented their hymn to the almighty by singing a multilingual version of ‘Anandoloke Mangalaloke’ by Rabindranath Tagore to celebrate the true spirit of multilingualism as advocated by NEP 2020 that the school has adopted. The Venue Director felicited the Resource Persons with ‘uttariya’ and presented them with bouquets. Dr. Dutta also expressed his special gratitude to Head, COE Bhubaneswar for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend this special program.

 

The Resource Persons oriented the participants about the importance of incorporating Learning Outcomes in their day-to-day teaching and learning with children. The focus of the days discussion remained the ‘students’ who are the center of all discussion in the classroom. Dr. Akhilesh Kumar urged the participants to even include the students’ in the process of determining the Learning Outcomes as LOs should always be individualized for the divergent needs of the children. Keeping with the theme of the discussion, the participants were given ample opportunities presented their perspectives and practices. The session was extremely interactive and enjoyable in spite of being quite a long one. By the end of the session the participants could successfully frame SMART Learning Outcomes, plan suitable pedagogical process to achieve the same, determine appropriate assessment techniques to evaluate the same and reflect on the entire process to improve student learning.

 

The CBP for Prospective Resource Person was indeed successful as the Resource Persons could identify several candidates who are confident and capable to conduct the same program in future Capacity Building Programs.
