Hubs of Learning, Nadia District organized a 3 Hours physical workshop on Strategies for Teaching English in CBSE Schools on 23.07.2022 in Bhakti Vedanta National School, who kindly consented to host the session. This was a first of its kind initiative by the HOL, who had earlier conducted online sessions for the teachers of the six schools under its purview on relevant topics. 32 English teachers teaching various levels from these schools including Bhakti Vedanta National School, Krishnagar Public School, Techno India Group Public School - Nabadwip and Vivekananda Academy participated in the workshop actively and were glad to have a face-to-face interactive session, learning new strategies and pedagogical processes and sharing their best practices with each other. The session included Objectives of teaching English in CBSE Schools, Creating Outcome-based and Competency-based Lesson Plan integrating Arts, Sports and other disciplines, inculcating values and life skills. The post lunch session the discussion turned to innovative strategies and pedagogical processes to cater to development of the four core linguistic skills including fun games to train students with active listening or encourage them to speak confidently. The teachers who mostly find teaching writing skills challenging, also greatly benefitted from the strategies dealing with Writing as a Process. The participants in groups also presented micro-lessons depicting the Art Integration, Sports Integration, Interdisciplinary Approach and Experiential Learning in practice. The collaborative activities brought the teachers from different schools together and created bonds for future associations and exchange.
